Everything you need for professional calling
Built into Unomia, so every call lands where your work already is.
Click-to-call
Call any number in Unomia with one click: from a contact, a CRM opportunity or a helpdesk ticket.
Incoming calls with context
The Phone widget rings and shows who is calling, so you can open their record straight away.
Always-open widget
Keypad, Recent, Contacts and Activities stay open while you work anywhere else in Unomia.
Automatic call history
Calls are linked to the client and logged in their history. Full history in one click.
Recording & transcription
Record calls and turn them into searchable text. With Axivox this runs on its own European servers, without external AI.
Transfer, forward & routing
Pass calls to a colleague and route incoming calls automatically with your own rules and queues.
Call activities
Schedule calls as activities, sorted by due date, and dial straight from your to-do list.
Call analytics
See call volume and response times: how reachable is your firm, really?
On your smartphone
Use the widget in the Odoo mobile app or a SIP app like Linphone. One number, anywhere.
From phone call to invoice, in one system
Use cases for law firms
Where the Phone app makes a daily difference in legal practice.
Client intake
A prospect calls about a dismissal, divorce or dispute. Create the contact during the call and schedule the intake before you hang up.
Every call on the right case
Calls with clients, opposing counsel, courts and experts are logged on the record. Months later you still know who said what, and when.
More accurate time recording
Short calls are the hours lawyers forget. Logged calls with duration make it easy to book time in Timesheets and invoice it.
Telephone attendance notes
Recording and transcription give a searchable record of instructions given by phone, useful when an agreement is later disputed.
Deadlines & call-backs
Plan "call client about hearing date" as an activity. Today's calls appear in the widget in order of due date.
Reception & cover
The secretary sees who is calling and transfers to the right lawyer, or to a colleague when that lawyer is in court.
Legal helplines & subscriptions
Offering subscription advice? With the Helpdesk integration every call is traceable and response times measurable.
Private number stays private
Clients reach your firm number on your laptop and smartphone, never your personal mobile.
Before and after the Phone app
| Without the Phone app | With the Phone app |

| Calls scattered across mobiles and notebooks | Every call logged on the client and case |
| Short calls never make it to the timesheet | Call duration ready to book and bill |
| Call-backs on sticky notes | Scheduled call activities, sorted by due date |
| Personal mobile number given to clients | One professional number on every device |
| Colleague has no idea what was discussed | Shared call history and transcriptions |
| Separate phone system to buy and maintain | No hardware: an internet connection is enough |
Casey, your AI employee, picks up where the call ends
Casey is Unomia's AI employee for law firms, trained on your firm's own sources. The Phone app captures the conversation; Casey turns it into work that is ready for your review. You stay in control: Casey prepares, the lawyer decides.
The call
You call or take the call in the Phone app. It is logged on the client and the case, and recorded and transcribed on Axivox's EU servers if you choose.
Summary on the case
Casey summarises the conversation and adds it to the case file, so colleagues can see the essentials at a glance.
Drafts & tasks
Casey drafts the follow-up email, the call summary for the client and the tasks that came out of the call, ready for you to review.
Deadlines watched
Deadlines and agreements from the call are added to the deadline monitoring of the case.
Time & invoice
The call is ready to book as time, and Casey supports the invoice check before billing.
A new client calls? Casey supports the intake by legal area and advises on opening a case file, so the first conversation is never lost.
Missed the call? Clients can reach Casey on WhatsApp outside office hours, so nobody waits until Monday for a first response.
Nothing goes out without your approval. Casey prepares; you review, adjust and send.
Privacy first: why we choose Axivox
Client calls are confidential. Where your call data lives matters.
European company
Axivox is the brand of Evocom SRL in Walhain, Belgium: an EU provider under EU law.
Hosted in Europe
European customers are hosted on Axivox's Paris site. Its other sites (Singapore, North America) serve other continents.
No external AI for recordings
Recording, transcription and translation run on Axivox's own infrastructure, with analysis models on its European servers.
Encrypted calls
Signalling and audio can be encrypted end to end, with two-factor authentication for the admin portal.
AI transcription and the EU AI Act
Odoo also offers its own AI call transcription and summaries. This feature reportedly sends call audio to the OpenAI API, outside Axivox's European infrastructure. For confidential client calls we therefore advise leaving it switched off and using Axivox's EU-hosted transcription instead. Under the EU AI Act's transparency rules (Article 50, applicable since 2 August 2026), callers must be told when they are talking to an AI system: if you use an AI voice agent at reception, it must say so.
Built for the solo lawyer and the small firm
The solo lawyer
- One number, everywhere. Your business number on laptop and smartphone; your private number stays private.
- Your own back office. No secretary? Automatic call logging and activities do the admin for you.
- No billable minutes lost. Every call is visible on the client, ready for time recording.
- Professional from day one. Clients reach a firm number, not a personal mobile.
- No hardware. No phone system to buy or maintain.
The small firm (2–15 people)
- Shared client memory. Everyone sees the call history, so colleagues can take over during holidays or illness.
- One-click transfers. Pass a call to the right lawyer instantly.
- Better reachability. Routing rules and queues mean fewer missed calls from (potential) clients.
- One system instead of five. Phone, CRM, cases, timesheets and invoicing in one Unomia environment.
- Insight. Call analytics show where the pressure is and how fast the firm responds.
A day with the Phone app
Three scheduled call-backs are waiting in the Activities tab.
A prospect calls. You create the contact during the call and plan an intake.
An incoming call reaches your smartphone via the same business number.
Opposing counsel calls. The call is logged on the case; the transcription captures the offer.
You review today's calls and book the time. Nothing to reconstruct from memory.
Watch the Phone app in action
Official video lessons from the Odoo eLearning course "VoIP: Voice over IP" (approx. 1 h 19 min in total).
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a new phone?
No. You call from your browser or the Odoo mobile app. You can also use a SIP app such as Linphone or a VoIP desk phone.
Which provider do you use?
Axivox, one of Odoo's verified providers. It is a Belgian company that hosts European customers in Europe, so call data does not need to leave the EU.
Is the Phone app GDPR (AVG) compliant?
No phone system is compliant on its own: as a firm you remain the data controller. With Axivox, a data processing agreement and the right settings (who records, how long recordings are kept, informing callers), you can set it up in line with the GDPR. Unomia helps with that configuration.
Can I keep my current number?
Usually yes, through number porting with your VoIP provider. We check this for you during setup.
Is it suitable for a one-person practice?
Yes. That is where it often pays off fastest: it replaces a secretary for call logging and follow-ups.
Make the phone part of your practice
Unomia sets up the Phone app with Axivox for your firm: EU-hosted numbers, users, mobile access, privacy-friendly recording settings and the link with your clients, cases and timesheets.
